Psychological Assessments
ADHD & Autism
-
A psychological assessment is a comprehensive process that helps us understand how someone thinks, learns, communicates, and navigates the world around them. It involves a thoughtful combination of interviews, observations, and testing tools that help rule out certain diagnoses and highlight others.
Our team specializes in identifying ADHD and Autism, and our assessments can also shed light on a range of other factors to help you better understand yourself or your child, and navigate life after a diagnosis.
At CCPS, our two-step approach is designed to make the process more effective and less overwhelming—providing transparent, high-quality insights without unnecessary complexity.
-
Dr. Kristyn Collins, Licensed Psychologist, leads the assessment team with extensive experience in clinical diagnosis, therapy, and psychological analysis. Monique Gilmore, Registered Psychological Associate, is a former School Psychologist currently completing her doctoral experience hours under Dr. Collins’ supervision.
We’re therapists first—not checklist runners. We take time to understand your experience and provide clarity, not labels. Assessments can be emotional, and we’re here to support you through them with empathy and respect.

All services are private pay. We are not contracted with insurance for assessments.
However, we can take insurance for therapy treatment in lieu of or after a psychological assessment.
For individuals with financial hardship and extenuating circumstances, a sliding scale application is available for a discount on the full assessment. Sliding scale waivers are limited. Please call 805-801-2231 or email welcome@centralpsych.org to request an application.
-
When you call our office, a live person is available to talk you through scheduling the initial consultation and gather some basic information. Payment is due when you schedule your consultation.
Once your consultation is booked and paid, you’ll receive:
Intake forms and developmental questionnaires by email
Instructions for sharing any relevant medical, educational, or psychological records
An invitation to begin our assessment screeners and initial information gathering tools.
For school-age children, we may also request input from teachers or caregivers.
On the days of testing, be sure not to change your sleeping or eating habits. Try to maintain your or your child’s typical schedule.
-
Not every assessment results in a clear diagnosis—and that’s okay. If the findings are unclear or don’t meet full diagnostic criteria, we’ll explain why, and help you understand your options for next steps. You’ll still walk away with recommendations, resources, and clarity on what to rule out or what to monitor over time.
-
We believe a good assessment is more than technical—it’s personal. We take the time to understand your story, your concerns, and help you understand your options for what comes next.
Compassion-first: You're not a number. We meet you where you are.
Therapist-led: We know the emotional side of this work and hold space for it.
Clarity over jargon: Reports are easy to understand and packed with useful recommendations.
No pressure: Our initial consultation helps determine if a full evaluation is needed.
Transparent pricing: You’ll know the cost and process upfront.
Evidence-based tools: We use DSM-5-aligned, research-backed methods.
